A paroled rapist arrested after a woman was found in his car trunk confessed to killing three teen-age girls and a woman and led investigators to their shallow graves, authorities said Thursday.

Leslie Allen Williams, a 39-year-old habitual offender from Detroit, had been released from prison in August, 1990.

Authorities said a witness had seen Williams try to abduct and rape the woman found in his trunk while she was laying a wreath at her mother’s grave Sunday.

“Leslie Allen Williams should never have been on the street. There are four girls dead because of it,” Oakland County Sheriff John Nichols said at a news conference.

The first body was discovered Wednesday in a field after friends and acquaintances told investigators that Williams frequented the area. Williams then confessed to that slaying and the three others. He had not yet been formally charged.

He also is a suspect in the abduction and rape last year of a 9-year-old girl and remained in jail in lieu of $1-million bond in the attempted rape and abduction of the woman found in his car trunk.
