JUST FOR TIPS: Pity the poor waiters at the Le Meridien Hotel in Newport Beach for today’s American Heart Assn. luncheon: they not only have to wait tables, they have to come up with their own customers. Actually, it’s all in fund-raising fun. The “celebrity waiters” are business leaders who have guaranteed tables of 10 at $50 a person. . . . “It’s the craziest thing we do all year,” says the local chapter’s Christine Dittmer. “But our celebrity waiters must love it; they keep volunteering to come back each year.”
