Police Reform Measure
In response to the Times Poll, “81% Critical of Gates; Police Reform Backed,” May 15:
I don’t know how The Times made that survey but I travel a lot around this city and I don’t see anything to make me believe your statistics.
All of my dealings with the Los Angeles police have been very favorable and professional. I do not want to give power to the mayor or the Police Commission that is dominated by the American Civil Liberties Union to take control of the Police Department. Their political examples leave a lot to be desired. All we need now is a politically controlled Police Department.
