A 28-year-old Oxnard man, who allegedly caused a head-on collision in Camarillo that left six people injured, has been charged with driving under the influence, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said Monday.

Roberto Bautista was arrested for drunk driving Sunday after his vehicle collided with another car in the intersection of East 5th Street and Wood Road in Camarillo, dispatcher Roger Craven said.

Occupants of the second car, driven by Martin Rosete, 24, of Port Hueneme, were trapped inside and had to be rescued by fire officials who responded to the accident, Craven said.

Bautista was airlifted with his passenger, Veronica Gaytan, 16, of Port Hueneme, to the Ventura County Medical Center, Craven said.

Gaytan was in fair condition Monday, said nursing supervisor Melda Ocubillo.

She said Bautista was not admitted.

The four occupants of the second car were treated for a variety of injuries at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, according to the nursing supervisor.

Guillermo Macias, 31, of Oxnard was in stable condition Monday, while the other occupants of Rosete’s car were not hospitalized, the nursing supervisor said.
