The six-state round of presidential primaries on Tuesday closed out the nominating season for Democrats, but one state has yet to vote.

North Dakota’s primary is next Tuesday, with 17 GOP delegates at stake and a non-binding “beauty contest” for the Democrats.

The ballot has attracted an unusual assortment of candidates. On the Republican side are President Bush and comedian Pat Paulsen. The Democratic candidates are Nevada millionaire Charles Woods, Miami comedian Tom Shiekman and Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr., who is serving a prison term for mail fraud and tax conspiracy.

Next on the political calendar are the national party conventions, at which Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton and Bush are expected to claim the nominations. The Democrats convene July 13 in New York; the Republicans meet Aug. 17-20 in Houston.
