Mazda Issues Recall: Owners of 1990 and 1991 model MPV multipurpose vehicles sold in the United States are being asked by mail to take them to an authorized Mazda dealer for the inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the rear brake shoes. A total of 95,074 vehicles are affected. Mazda has found that on certain of the vehicles manufactured between July, 1989, and June, 1991, the characteristics of the rear brake linings can change. As the brakes wear, inconsistent brake response may result in the rear-wheel ABS system activating prematurely. There will be no charge to the owners. The procedure should take about 2 1/2 hours.
