A car crashed into a bus bench Saturday evening, injuring at least six people, in a hit-and-run accident in Panorama City, authorities said.

Four victims, including two children, were treated at three hospitals after the 6:40 p.m. accident at Nordhoff Street and Woodman Avenue, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Mike Hallett said. Two other victims were treated at the scene and released.

A 5-year-old girl was in good condition at Childrens Hospital in Hollywood with facial lacerations, Nursing Supervisor Denise Henry said. Two adults were treated for minor injuries at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Panorama City, and another child was treated for minor injuries at Holy Cross Hospital, Hallett said. The names of the victims were not released.

It was not clear what caused the car to hit the bus bench, Los Angeles police said. Witnesses told officers that the driver, who sped off after the crash, appeared to be drunk, Officer Bill Mulvihill said.

“It’s a real mess,” Mulvihill said. “I have no idea what the total injuries are. We’re still looking for the driver.”
