FOUNTAIN VALLEY : City to Mark 35th Birthday Saturday

The city will celebrate its 35th birthday Saturday with games, food and a free concert. “Celebrate Fountain Valley Proud” will commemorate the city’s birthday as well as the creation of the Police Department 25 years ago. The celebration will include a program honoring the city, the Police Department and the Chamber of Commerce and will conclude with an oldies rock concert.

Local nonprofit groups such as the Baby Buddies, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Fountain Valley Exchange Club and Kiwanis will operate game booths to raise money for their organizations. Other booths will offer information from the American Cancer Society, Neighborhood Watch, Orange County Animal Control and other groups.

Festivities will last from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Fountain Valley Recreation and Cultural Center, 16400 Brookhurst St., between Warner and Edinger avenues.
