Hanson Lab Furniture Industries, a Newbury Park producer of metal laboratory supplies, has been acquired by an American-Canadian firm, Norlab Inc.
The cash deal was worth several million dollars, according to Stephen D. Woodworth, president of Channel Islands Equities, an Oxnard investment-banking firm that represented the seller.
Woodworth said Hanson Lab Furniture is the largest manufacturer of metal laboratory cabinets, tables and similar equipment with a plant on the West Coast. The 20-year-old firm has 40 employees.
Hanson Lab’s founder, Kenneth Hanson, will not be involved in future management and the company’s name will be changed to Norlab/Hanson, Woodworth said.
Norlab, a privately held concern with headquarters in Chicago and Toronto, is the largest supplier of laboratory furniture in Canada and is a growing presence in the U. S. market, Woodworth said. He added that Norlab has been anxious to increase its manufacturing and marketing capabilities in the Western United States.
