CALABASAS, VAN NUYS : Hearings on County Budget Scheduled
Los Angeles County officials plan to hold two public hearings Saturday in the San Fernando Valley on the 1992-93 budget.
The first will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at 27050 Agoura Road, Calabasas. The second will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the Van Nuys Municipal Court Building, 14400 Erwin Street Mall.
Both hearings will be chaired by county Chief Executive Officer Richard Dixon and will include representatives of other county agencies, including the departments of mental health, children’s services, health and welfare. Representatives of the public works, fire, library, parks and recreation and sheriff’s departments will also attend the Calabasas hearing, said county spokeswoman Judy Hammond.
The budget hearings, which began last weekend in the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys, are part of a new program intended to make the county’s administration more accessible to residents in outlying areas. Throughout the month, the department heads and budget analysts will visit a dozen communities, seeking comments on the proposed budget.
In the past, all budget hearings were held in the Hall of Administration in downtown Los Angeles, a long drive for many residents, Hammond said.
