ANTELOPE VALLEY : Commuter Bus Trip to L.A. Added
Responding to increasing ridership, the Antelope Valley’s new public transit agency decided Tuesday to add a sixth daily commuter bus round-trip between the Antelope Valley and downtown Los Angeles.
The board of the newly created Antelope Valley Transit Authority voted 3 to 0 to authorize the extra trip on Line 785, which runs Mondays through Fridays, starting July 6. Riders have been left behind at Lancaster and Palmdale pickup spots because the buses have been filled and standing is not permitted.
A staff report said the added trip will cost the agency about $75,000 a year, but that it expects to recoup about $40,000 of that through the service’s $10 round-trip fare. The change will not affect Line 787, which runs two trips to the San Fernando Valley each weekday.
