Storm Drain Work to Affect Streets

WHITTIER — Bids on the construction of the California Avenue lateral storm drain in Whittier will open June 30, with work to begin in September, according to Supervisor Deane Dana’s office.
The drain will be placed under California Avenue from 2nd Street to Whittier Boulevard, under Whittier from California to Ocean View Avenue, under 2nd from California to Ocean View and from Calmada Avenue to Whittier.
Streets in the area may be closed during construction, but local access will be available. Whittier Boulevard may have fewer traffic lanes but will not be closed.
