Right-handed pitcher Danny Cox of the Philadelphia Phillies cleared waivers and became a free agent.
The Phillies designated Cox for assignment on May 28 to make room for rookie pitcher Ben Rivera, acquired in a trade with Atlanta.
Cox underwent a ligament transfer to his elbow in 1989 and has been trying to make it back since.
