Thomas F. Gavin has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of investor relations and corporate communications for Archive Corp., a Costa Mesa supplier of data storage backup products. Gavin will oversee the company’s investor and media relations programs. He previously served as vice president and account group supervisor at the Financial Relations Board, a New York-based investor relations counseling firm. He has also been vice president of corporate relations for Esterline Corp., a manufacturer of factory automation equipment, and has held corporate relations positions at Kennecott Corp., Kidde Inc., Gulf Oil Corp. and Eastern Airlines. In addition, Gavin has served as an editor and writer for several organizations, including the New York Daily News, General Precision Aerospace, New York Telephone and General Dynamics Corp.
