SAN CLEMENTE : Council Reappoints 3 to Planning Panel

Share

The City Council has reappointed George Key, Steve Apodaca and Bob Burleson to serve additional two-year terms on the five-member city Planning Commission.

The appointments came during a special meeting last week in which one appointee took the unusual step of turning down a spot, Mayor Joe Anderson said.

Tom Dunn, a longtime member of the city’s golf course committee, had been appointed by a council majority during the meeting to take one of the three positions. But when Dunn found that his selection meant that Key, with four years of experience on the commission, would not be reappointed, he resigned immediately.

“It was kind of a confusing situation,” Anderson said.

Dunn told council members he believed Key should be reappointed because of his experience, Anderson said. In response, council members asked the city staff to clarify the appointment process.

Council members also sought residents to serve on the city golf course and human affairs committees. Interviews and appointments were scheduled to be made last night.
