LAKE VIEW TERRACE : L.A. OKs Funds for Repainting School
- Share via
The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved spending $172,000 from a landfill trust fund to repaint Fenton Avenue School in Lake View Terrace.
The elementary school was last painted 32 years ago when it was built, and painters were not scheduled to return for another 10 to 20 years because of school district budget shortages.
But Principal Joe Lucente sought the help of City Councilman Ernani Bernardi, who asked his council colleagues to support taking the money for repainting out of a special $5-million trust fund established in connection with the nearby Lopez Canyon Landfill.
Painting is to be completed by next June.
