Hollywood Bowl Enjoys the Kindness of Patronesses

Share

The Hollywood Bowl will have new microphones for its upcoming summer season. They’re donated by the Hollywood Bowl Patronesses Committee, which is ever mindful of Bowl aesthetics. Recently, Patronesses, headed by president Louise Jones of San Marino, toured the Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and lunched there. Now, members are focused on their June 28 party in the Fremont Place home and garden of Mollie and Ragnar Qvale. By Los Angeles tradition, the Sunday night evening kicks off the Bowl season. (Opening night at the Bowl is July 7).

The affair is a salute to John and Rosemary Raitt. Bee Jay DiVall is dinner chairman.

LAVISH: Ten-page invitations have been mailed by Barbara and Frank Sinatra for the Aug. 5-7 celebration of the Princess Grace Foundation-USA’s 10th anniversary in Monte Carlo.

Toufic Aboukhater, a private investor who resides in Monte Carlo, and Dame Celia Lipton-Farris, a Palm Beach philanthropist, are underwriting the three-day soiree. It was established in 1982 in Princess Grace’s memory to provide patronage for the performing arts in America.

That’s the word on the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California film event for “Pinocchio” at Walt Disney Studios. Kids tossed rings on Pinocchio’s nose, watched marionettesand rode a ferris wheel.

Disney Studios President Richard Frank, Connie’s husband, was right there, making it all happen. When the foundation fund-raiser began in 1985, it raised only $16,000.
