LAGUNA BEACH : City to Give Trolley Official Send-Off
The city will toot its own horn this weekend over becoming the first city in the county to have an electric trolley by offering free rides on the battery-operated railway.
City leaders will be at City Hall today to give the open-air tram an official send-off. The trolley will leave intermittently between 10:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a ride downtown and back. Free rides will also be given Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The normal trolley fare will be 50 cents for the route along Pacific Coast Highway to the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Dana Point and 75 cents on routes that go to the festival grounds.
The city purchased the vehicle with money made available by the Orange County Transportation Authority, the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the Southern California Edison Co.
