MAKING AN IMPACT: Engineers at a small aerospace plant in Brea had a hand in building the Impact, GM’s electric concept car. It has revolutionized electric vehicles, expected in the mid-’90s (Times Magazine, Page 8). John Cologne, product manager at Lucas Western Corp., recalls he had to persuade management to authorize building a pair of motors that help give the car its zippy acceleration. . . .
