Farewell to Jerry

As effecting as his farewell column was--and as a columnist he’s tops--one essential was omitted: Hulse’s tenure as Times travel editor. Single-handedly, he re-prioritized the way readers faced the heavy-duty Sunday Times. Gradually, the Travel section went higher and higher on the priority list until it was well toward the top of the heap. It also became, unarguably, the finest travel section in the world.
As a final word to Hulse: Bon Voyage, Captain. You ran a damned good ship and we, your passengers, had a hell of a good trip.
