CAMARILLO : Boy, 8, Killed on Coast Highway
An 8-year-old Camarillo boy was struck and killed on Pacific Coast Highway after running into the path of an oncoming vehicle, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said Sunday.
Christopher Scott Van Buskirk was trying to cross the road south of Mugu Point about 6:35 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by a car driven by Hye Chang, 33, of Los Angeles, the spokeswoman said.
Chang swerved as the child came into her field of vision but was unable to avoid hitting him, the spokeswoman said.
The boy was flown by helicopter to St. John’s Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m., Deputy Coroner Dale Zentzis said.
