Peugeot won the Le Mans 24-Hour race, giving France its first victory in 12 years. The winning team--France’s Yannick Dalmas and Britain’s Derek Warwick and Mark Blundell--held first place from the second hour until the finish. They finished more than six laps ahead of a Toyota on the 8.45-mile circuit.

The winners covered 352 laps, a distance of 2,974.40 miles at an average speed of 123.89 m.p.h.
