Left and Right Within GOP
The June 30 article on the campaign by the Ventura County Republican Central Committee was far short of the usual high reporting standards found in the Los Angeles Times (“Republican Group Aims Blitz at GOP Right”).
The article should have been run as an advertisement for the so-called “Committee to Elect Responsible Republicans.” It took a swipe at the “religious right” in the process.
The article extensively quotes the “Responsible Republicans” who do not support the national Republican platform, while virtually ignoring the “religious right” who do support the platform. The article doesn’t even mention what the national Republican platform is and who falls on what side.
Could we balance the use of inflammatory language such as the “religious right” by referring to the “Godless left?”
