How Government Spends Property Taxes
The state has been stealing the property tax paid by property owners for years. The intent of property tax is to pay for property-related matters. Cities provide us with both police and fire protection. The city should get all of the property taxes paid by property owners.
The only reason property is used as a basis for taxation is that it is the easiest tax to collect. If you do not pay the tax, the government will confiscate and sell your property to somebody else.
If the state needs help, try this formula:
1. All property taxes stay within the city or community they are collected from to pay for public protection.
2. All sales taxes go to the county they are collected in to pay for county programs.
3. Vehicle license fees go to the state.
4. Any government-mandated program will be funded by the governmental agency that mandates it.
Cities can be responsible for city problems and do not need the problems brought on by state and county governmental agencies.
