Dealing With Hate Crime: In an effort to stamp out racial violence, the Japanese Business Assn. of Orange County, which is made up of 170 Japanese companies, is sponsoring a seminar against Japan bashing and hate crimes.
About 200 Japanese executives and other community members concerned with racial tensions are expected to attend the two-hour seminar, titled “Hate Crimes and Japan Bashing,” on Saturday in Anaheim.
“We hope to increase the awareness and prevention of Japan-bashing and hate crimes against Asians, especially against Japanese,” said Lisa Kitsuta, a Newport Beach Japanese business lawyer, who will be the moderator.
Panelists will include John Robertson, Orange chief of police; Frances Williams, a director of the Orange County Human Relations Commission; and James Tanizaki, the county’s senior deputy district attorney.
