Complaining Loudly

I agree completely with Mike Boehm’s review of Hank Williams Jr.’s recent show at Irvine Meadows (“The I’s Have It at Hank Jr. Show a Irvine Meadows,” June 22).

However, I feel that Mike should have expanded on the “over-amped bass” comment in his review.

Williams’ portion of the show was definitely over-amplified. Someone really increased the musical instrument volume, particularly the bass and the drum.

My group of four became very nauseated after about 10 minutes into Hank Jr.’s performance. The loud bass frequencies were being absorbed by our bodies, causing illness and loss of hearing. Midway through his performance, we, along with about half of the people in our section, left the concert. We all discussed the overly loud “noise” and the resultant effect on our senses during the walk to the parking lot. The sound engineer on the mix/amplification board should be fired!

Hank lost a lot of loyal fans because of this poor performance and the excessive music amplification.

Doug Stone and Patty Loveless, however, were absolutely fantastic!
