A special election has been scheduled for November to fill the council seat left vacant by the death of Councilman Ray T. Watson on June 18.

The City Council voted 4 to 0 to hold the special election, turning down an option to appoint Watson’s successor. The balloting will be consolidated with Los Angeles County elections Nov. 3.

Watson, who died of a heart attack at age 58, was serving his second four-year council term, which was due to expire Nov. 7, 1995.
