City Official’s Comments on Police Chief
I was very surprised to read that Philip Hawkey, the city manager of Pasadena, commented on the ongoing marital dispute, divorce action and potential criminal activity of the Pasadena chief of police, Jerry A. Oliver. (Times, June 14.)
Mr. Hawkey appears to have taken sides when he says that Jackie Oliver’s claim of spousal abuse is “an effort to gain leverage in a divorce action.”
How does he know? Is this, again, an example of the “old boys” network, or what?
