Rebuilding in Riot Areas

Share

I read with great sadness Bill Boyarsky’s column “Competing for Jobs in the New Los Angeles” (June 19) in which Boyarsky describes a poor Latino construction worker who was forced to stop work clearing riot damage because Danny Bakewell of the Brotherhood Crusade felt he was the wrong ethnic background.

Los Angeles begs Danny Bakewell and his supporters to follow what they preach and stop denigrating people because they just yearn for a job to help feed their families. One of the most wonderful things about America is that regardless of color, everybody has a right to fulfill his desire to work to obtain his dream.
