The Ventura County Board of Supervisors has awarded $56,247 to nine nonprofit agencies to provide part-time job training to low-income county residents over 55.

The federal funding, made possible by the federal Older Americans Act, is funneled through the county’s Senior Community Service Employment Program.

The purpose of the program is to update applicants’ job skills to help them find jobs. The program is also aimed at residents who have retired and want to go back to work.
