TV Ratings : Daytime Emmy Show Tops the Week
NBC’s presentation of the Daytime Emmy Awards was the top-rated prime-time show of last week, attracting 26% of the national audience, the A.C. Nielsen research firm reported Tuesday. But CBS won the week overall with a 10.2 rating compared to NBC’s 9.5 and ABC’s 8.8. (Each rating point equals 921,000 homes. The full list is on F13.)
In a week dominated by summer reruns of entertainment shows, six news and reality series finished in the Top 20. They were “60 Minutes,” “PrimeTime Live,” “20/20,” “Rescue 911,” “Unsolved Mysteries” and “48 Hours.”
Although NBC had the top-rated Daytime Emmys, the slipping network, which once dominated TV with its potent series led by “The Cosby Show,” placed only four regular programs in the Top 25: “Cheers” (13th), “Unsolved Mysteries” (17th), “Fresh Prince” (19th) and “Seinfeld” (24th). Two NBC TV movies also made the Top 25.
* “Raven,” a new, one-hour action series about a martial arts master who teams up with a private eye (Lee Majors), helped CBS to its weekly victory as its 90-minute premiere ranked eighth, with 24% of the audience.
