Hacienda Heights : Medi-Cal Fraud Alleged
A local accountant was arrested Tuesday by state investigators on felony criminal charges stemming from an eight-month Medi-Cal fraud investigation.
Arsenio L. Pascua, 56, was charged with grand theft, filing false Medi-Cal claims, and money laundering in separate complaints in Citrus Municipal Court in West Covina and in San Bernardino Municipal Court.
Pascua is accused of submitting more than $250,000 worth of false claims for AVS Medical Health Care in West Covina and for a San Bernardino company.
Last week in Pomona Superior Court, AVS owner Elpideo Pacia pleaded guilty to filing false Medi-Cal claims. He faces $100,000 in restitution and one year in county jail.
Pascua, if convicted, could be sentenced to 10 years in state prison and fined more than $500,000.
