Angeles Forest : Road to Close Early for 3 Days
Hoping to prevent fireworks-triggered fires over the July 4 weekend, the U.S. Forest Service is closing Santa Anita Canyon Road early for three days.
The 3 1/2-mile road, which leads to the popular Chantry Flats recreational area, has vista points of the San Gabriel Valley and “has been popular for the discharging of illegal fireworks,” Forest Service law enforcement officer John Bennett said.
Normally open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., the road will close at 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
