Child Labor Law Violations

Various Los Angeles County businesses in violation of federal child labor laws were fined a total of $79,000 by a U.S. Department of Labor strike force last month. The businesses are listed in descending order of the amount of their fines:

California Pride Foods Inc. (operator of eight Little Caesar’s outlets in L.A. County), Lancaster. Fifteen minors, violations of hours regulations, employment of minors in hazardous occupations, $19,200.

Swedish Kitchen, 44652 N. Sierra Highway, Lancaster. Two minors, violations of the work hours regulations and employment of a minor in a hazardous occupation, $5,850.

Signal Market Corp., 7515 Pacific Blvd., Huntington Park. Eight minors, violations of hours regulations, $4,200.

Two For One Pizza, 2825 S. Figueroa. Three minors, violations of hours regulations and employment of a minor in a hazardous occupation, $3,675.

Sport Chalet, 920 Foothill Blvd., La Canada. Five minors, violations of hours regulations, $3,075.

Words Plus, 43700 17th St. West, Lancaster. Two minors, violation of hours regulations and employment of minors in a hazardous occupation, $3,000.

Big Tree Wine Distributor Inc., 6415 S. Compton Ave. Two minors, violations of hours regulations, $2,325.

Product Development Services, 7309 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood. Two minors, violations of hours regulations and employment of minors in a hazardous occupation, $3,000.

El Pollo Loco, 44402 Valley Central Way, Lancaster. Four minors, violations of hours regulations, $3,000.

Merchant Building Maintenance, 1190 Monterey Pass Road, Monterey Park. Four minors, violations of hours regulations, $2,100.

Greyhound Bus Lines, 44949 Yucca Ave., Lancaster. Two minors, employment of minors under 14 years of age, $2,000.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 320 N. Soto St. Three minors, violations of hours regulations, $1,800.

Carl’s Jr., 49669 Gorman Post Road. Five minors, violations of hours regulations, $1,700.

Arrow Precision Products, 5026 Slauson Ave., Maywood. Two minors, violation of hours regulations and employment of minors in a hazardous occupation, $1,550.

Vince’s Pasta and Pizza, 2801 W. Ave. L, Lancaster. One minor, employment of a minor in a hazardous occupation, $1,500.

Jerome G. Zoller & Co., 37925 E. 6th St., Palmdale. Two minors, employment of a minor under the age of 14, $1,400.

Cost Cutters Family Hair, 44507 Valley Central West, Lancaster. One minor, violation of hours regulations and employing a minor under the age of 14, $1,300.

McDonald’s, 324 W. Norberry St., Lancaster. Two minors, violations of hours regulations, $1,200.
