* James D. Grant has been appointed to the board of directors of Cortex Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Irvine. Grant is chairman of T Cell Sciences Inc., a biotechnology pharmaceuticals company based in Cambridge, Mass. Before that, he was a vice president and corporate officer of CPC International Inc., a food industrial products company, and was also deputy commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Cortex is developing products for the treatment and diagnosis of age-related diseases and disorders of the brain.
