Expansion Plans for Puente Hills Dump

Share

It’s happening now! For years SANDIST (the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County) has been preparing the environmental impact report for expansion of Puente Hills dump. Now, during summer vacation, they release the draft and are scheduling hearings!

Don Nellor (district head of planning and engineering) has served his bosses--Board of Supervisors and mayors of all the cities dumping here--well, but he has not been a servant for the good of the people. He is a competent employee. He knows it is harder to organize or protest SANDIST actions during summer vacation time.

Where does that leave those of us who protest the raping of our hills; the dumping of garbage in close proximity to San Jose Creek and the San Gabriel River, and over the largest water table in the valley; the devaluation of our property; the dumping of garbage next to our homes and Orange Grove School, and one mile from Palm and Los Robles schools, and the stealth of clean air and quiet hills, which will be dumped full of garbage?

I am asking all of the residents of the San Gabriel Valley to get involved to overthrow the expansion of Puente Hills. From someone who has worked against this expansion for over 10 years, I expect you to come and protest the raping of our God-given hills, register to vote, write and call your politicians and community leaders, and ask for a public hearing after Labor Day.

Let’s be heard as one voice, because if the SANDIST gets approval of the environmental impact report and the conditional use permit, the dump will be in our laps.
