By Any Measure, There’s Room for More Women in Politics

The chairman of the Republican Party of Orange County, Thomas A. Fuentes, just doesn’t get it. Mark Petracca’s remarks voiced concern for Republican movers and shakers about women in the party. Mr. Fuentes’ remarks (“GOP Leaders List High-Ranking Women,” Letters, June 28) are a personal attack on Mark Petracca.

Engaging in this type of name-calling and personal attack only disassociates many voters. I, for one, am a Republican who is frankly sick and tired of dirty tricks and underhanded tactics that seem to emanate only from the Republican Party.

Ross Perot’s popularity is no mystery. When Republican leaders engage in negative strategies, spending time and energy knocking the opposition, as opposed to stating positive positions on the issues, one has to wonder what they have to hide.

This is one Republican who will not be voting for Mr. Bush or the rest of the “good old boys” come November.
