TAX VOTE: The Huntington Park City Council is scheduled to consider Monday whether to impose a utility tax on gas, electricity and telephone customers to help offset a projected budget shortfall. The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 6550 Miles Ave.
SOAPBOX DERBY: More than 60 boys and girls are expected to compete next weekend in the Southern California Championship Soapbox Derby race at 2100 Obispo Ave., Long Beach. Races begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and at 9 a.m. Sunday.
