Supreme Court on School Prayers

I was stunned and appalled by the Supreme Court decision against prayer at school graduation ceremonies. Justice Anthony M. Kennedy said that the Constitution prohibits government from coercing anyone to participate in a religious exercise. However, it is just as coercive and wrong to mandate “you cannot pray,” as it is to demand “you must pray.” After all, our Founding Fathers wanted Americans to have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

A simple compromise should be implemented: Government should neither prohibit nor mandate prayer--or for that matter, Bible reading--in any public or private place. This is the true neutral ground.
