Cost of Not Educating

Share

I am writing in reaction to Gov. Wilson’s proposed budget cuts in the elementary, secondary and community college educational systems to avoid increasing taxes. As an American citizen, I have never opposed increased taxes to pay for services that most Americans take for granted. My family enjoys the comforts of an upper-middle-class income, and with no loopholes, our taxes are considerably high. I have always voted for any bond or proposition that benefited the general public. The only hope for our country and what made it prosper from the beginning was and is a strong educational system. I cannot understand the mentality of most Americans: They want something for nothing. The real world functions quite differently. Americans, including Wilson, need to develop a higher level of social consciousness or we will pay dearly in the end. I am not referring to our pocketbooks.
