THOUSAND OAKS : Drain, Foundation Contract Wins OK

The Thousand Oaks City Council has approved a $4-million contract with a Los Angeles firm to build a concrete foundation and drainage system for its $63.8-million Civic Center project at Jungleland.

The council voted 4 to 0 Tuesday night to award the contract to RJ Concrete. Councilwoman Elois Zeanah was absent.

RJ Concrete will install concrete foundations and a drainage system under the Civic Center complex, which includes a new City Hall, a 400-seat theater and a 1,800-seat performing arts auditorium.

The council also agreed to hire Smith-Emery Co. of Los Angeles, at a cost of up to $300,900, to conduct tests on the construction materials used for the project.
