RECORD ART: Eleven years ago Laguna Beach artist Robert Wyland did his first whale mural. It’s become a habit. At a ceremony today, the Guinness Book of World Records will honor him for the largest mural ever painted--the 116,000-square-foot ocean life scene at the Long Beach Convention Center. . . . Says Wyland: “It took 7,000 gallons of paint and 200 volunteers. We had everybody from a homeless guy to the vice mayor working on it. It was more work controlling those guys than painting the mural.”
