Orange County firefighters stationed in Yorba Linda were publicly commended for their “heroic work” in Los Angeles during the riots.

Mayor Irwin M. Fried presented firefighters from the city’s three substations with proclamations Tuesday, honoring them for “relentlessly enduring fatigue, hostile situations and long hours” to put out fires that began during the riots.

The Orange County Fire Department sent 300 firefighters to Los Angeles during the riots, but those based in Yorba Linda were among the first dispatched to help.
