SMALL FACES: Having celebrated the demise of the Berlin Wall by staging a massive concert of “The Wall” at its former site, Roger Waters is continuing his attack on cultural, religious and national barriers with his latest project. It’s an album titled “Amused to Death” and it’s due in stores Sept. 1. Among those joining Waters on the album are Jeff Beck, Don Henley and Rita Coolidge. . . .

Ron Wood is the latest Rolling Stone to make a solo album. “Slide on This,” the guitarist’s first solo album in more than a decade, will be released in September by Continuum Records. Guests will include U2’s the Edge and Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott along with Woody’s fellow Stone Charlie Watts and fellow former Face Ian McLagen. . . .

Hip-hop soulsters the Brand New Heavies went an unusual route with their second album. Instead of releasing a conventional follow-up to their 1991 debut, “Heavy Rhyme Experience: Vol. 1” features the group backing a series of guest rappers, including members of Gang Starr, Main Source and Black Sheep. The album--the first release through the Delicious Vinyl label’s new deal with Atlantic--will be in stores Aug. 2.
