ANAHEIM : 4 Take Out Papers for Council Race

Share

Four city residents, including an 18-year-old college freshman, have indicated their interest in vying for two City Council seats up for election this fall.

On Monday, the first day of candidate filing for City Council offices, Savanna High School graduate Manuel Ontiveros said his election would bring a “more diverse” voice to a government he said was dominated by older representatives.

“My age would be an asset,” Ontiveros said. “A lot of people want a change.”

Ontiveros joined Frank Feldhaus, a local telephone service agent; Todd Kaudy, a first-year law student; and community college teacher Phil Knypstra in requesting their candidate filing documents from the city clerk.

“I’ve been taking an interest in what’s been going on in the city for the past few years,” Knypstra said. “And I asked myself, ‘Can you do as good a job as they can?’ So, I’ve decided to give it a shot.”

Feldhaus and Kaudy could not be reached for comment.

The four are vying to unseat incumbents Tom Daly and William D. Ehrle, both of whom are expected to file for reelection. The filing period ends Aug. 7.
