Officer Says Man Denied Arrest Assaulted Her

HOUSTON —
A policewoman said she was stabbed with a screwdriver, hit with her own gun and handcuffed after she refused a homeless man’s request to be arrested so he could eat in jail.
Armando Cruz, 29, said he was high from sniffing paint when the fight occurred Sunday, police said. He was charged with deadly assault on a police officer.
Officer Deborah K. Logan, 33, was hospitalized Sunday in stable condition with a stab wound to her stomach, bruises and cuts.
