Convention Participant Mugged in Manhattan

NEW YORK —
A Vermont legislator attending the Democratic convention with his state’s delegation was mugged in midtown Manhattan early Monday.
Ron Squires, 40, from Guilford, Vt., suffered a broken nose when he was assaulted by two men at 1:30 a.m., a few blocks from his hotel at 47th Street and Lexington Avenue.
Mayor David N. Dinkins called to apologize for the attack.
