The Region : Hazardous Waste Roundups
The county Department of Public Works and the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County have scheduled two household hazardous waste roundups:
* July 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the L.A. County Fairgrounds, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona;
* Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gate 6, Santa Anita Park, Arcadia.
Hazardous waste includes old car batteries, used motor oil, paints, pesticides, oven cleaners and bleach. It is illegal to put these items in the garbage. Residents are limited to five gallons or 50 pounds per vehicle.
