LANCASTER : Racetrack Proposed for Fairgrounds
Antelope Valley Fair officials were scheduled to meet Monday night with local residents to discuss a plan to develop a permanent dirt racetrack at the Lancaster fairgrounds for motorcycle and auto events.
The fair, held each fall by the state’s 50th District Agricultural Assn., typically includes racing events in a grandstand area that is temporarily modified. The proposal would involve converting the area to a permanent racetrack, similar to an existing track east of Palmdale. The measure is being backed by an Acton promoter.
A final decision could come in September.
