SANTA CLARITA : Free Lunch Offered at Depot Ceremony
Who says there is no such thing as a free lunch?
The city of Santa Clarita is offering a free noontime meal to anyone attending a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the local commuter rail station.
The only catch is those interested must reserve a spot by calling city spokeswoman Gail Foy at (805) 259-5033.
The $5.2-million station will be built on a 10-acre parcel just east of Saugus Speedway. Commuter rail service is scheduled to begin Oct. 26.
Initially, three trains capable of carrying about 1,800 passengers will leave Santa Clarita in the morning and return in the afternoon, stopping in Sylmar, Glendale and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. More trains may be added later, Foy said.
